Power
Engineering, via our strategic partnership with the Institute
of Electrical Machines of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology,
uses proprietary electromagnetic tools to model and simulate the
performance and behaviour of electrical machines.

For
instance, we have algorithms to convert physical machine characteristics
to their equivalent circuits, as well as to predict their reactances
and time constants.
We
can also predict the unbalanced magnetic pull (UMP), based on
the winding distribution and the magnetic circuit of the machine.
This is extremely valuable in assessing the stability of a machine
vis a vis perturbations and abnormal operating conditions. It
is also vital in assessing the potential pull over risk when Upgrading
machines.
